All kids love painting and being creative which is why a t-shirt painting party is a great way to keep them entertained. The best part is that this party is easy to prepare and will not cost the earth. Brilliant!
First things first, make sure that you have enough white t-shirts for each of the children coming to the party. A plain t-shirt with short sleeves or even a white vest will do.
Colour, colour, colour!!!! Make sure that you have a wide selection of fabric paints and fabric pens so that they can let loose and express themselves. The children can either draw freehand or can use stencils that you have prepared earlier – stencils could include pictures of snails, butterflies, cats, rabbits…anything goes really.
Now to glitz things up a bit, if you want to give the kids the option of adding texture to their paintings, put different coloured glitter, jewels, ribbons, wool and felt on the table so that they can use them at will.
Some practical thoughts: Make sure that you have bowls of water and rolls of kitchen paper on the table so that they can wash and dry their brushes between colours. It would also be a good idea to put a sheet of paper inside the t-shirt to stop the paint from seeping through to the back of the shirt.
Fixing the paint: This is way easier than you would expect and can be done either at your house during the party or when the children go home. To make sure that their designs stay put, simply cover the picture with a clean cloth and iron over it on a very hot setting for 1-2 minutes. Simple! It may be a good idea to send the kids home with instructions for their parents if you decide to do it this way.
And there you have it, one easy party idea for lots of happy kids!
